Welcome to the memorial page for

LaVergne Carolyn (Andersen) Schuett

July 4, 1924 ~ April 13, 2017 (age 92)

LaVergne Carolyn Schuett (nee Andersen), a long-time resident of West Chicago, IL, and Sandwich, IL, died peacefully on Thursday morning, April 13, 2017, at Rosewood Care Center, St. Charles, IL.

Born July 4, 1924, in Chicago, LaVergne moved to Lombard, IL, with her parents and older brother Elmer when she was about two years old.  LaVergne graduated from York High School in Elmhurst, IL, in 1942.

LaVergne married Edward Charles Schuett on June 8, 1946.  They lived in West Chicago where they raised their family.  LaVergne and Ed moved to Lake Holiday, Sandwich, IL, in 1985.

LaVergne worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, Eddie’s Coach Service, as well as driving their special education routes. She was also the Secretary to the Guidance Counselors at West Chicago Community High School.

LaVergne volunteered to help people in need, e.g. punching braille cards for the blind and, through St. John Lutheran Church, making quilts for AIDS babies. She loved music and singing; being an accomplished pianist and organist, LaVergne played the organ for St. Andrew Lutheran Church. She sang baritone in the Village Vocal Chords barbershop quartet performance competitions. She was artistic and an excellent seamstress who used her talents to make beautiful hand sewn crafts, crewel embroidery, and clothes, including her three daughters’ wedding dresses. LaVergne was an avid league bowler. She enjoyed gardening and truly loved all animals.

LaVergne was preceded in death by her husband, who died on March 18, 2017; her parents, Joseph and Martha (Triphahn) Andersen, and by her brother, Elmer John Andersen.  She is survived by one son, Dennis (Margie) Schuett; three daughters, Marlen Schuett, Lori (Terry) Rueffer, and Linda Schuett; two granddaughters, Michelle Rueffer Bond and Claire (Isaac) Schoepp; two step-grandchildren, Michael (Estelle) Nolan and Christine (Eric) Baldridge; one great-grandson, Riker William Bond; six step-great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Alexis, and Ryan Nolan, and Kyla, Grant, and Dean Baldridge; one niece, Delores Illingworth.
